Claude now handles small-business admin, but not your WhatsApp

On 15 September 2026, Anthropic added 43 ready-made workflows to Claude for Small Business. A workflow here is a task template you start with one click, like "chase unpaid invoices".

Our verdict: worth a try if you already pay for Claude and lose hours to paperwork. Just don't expect it to answer customers on WhatsApp.

What changed

Claude for Small Business launched in May as a way to connect Claude to the apps owners already use. This update adds the 43 workflows and 27 more app connections. The apps named include QuickBooks, Xero, Shopify, Stripe, Square, HubSpot, Canva and Google Workspace.

Anthropic's examples include a weekly business summary, month-end bookkeeping, replying to new leads, writing proposals and planning a promotion.

Everything runs in Claude Cowork, Claude's desktop app. You pick a workflow, connect the app it needs, and Claude does the work. By default, it waits for your approval before anything is sent, posted or paid. Once you trust a workflow, you can let it run on its own.

It works on every paid Claude plan, and Anthropic doesn't list an extra price. For businesses with more than one person, Anthropic recommends the Team plan.

Why it matters for a small business

For many owners, the time doesn't go on the real work. It goes on the jobs around it: matching receipts to the bank statement, sending another reminder about an unpaid invoice, pulling together the week's numbers. These workflows are aimed at exactly that.

What Claude doesn't do is sit in your WhatsApp or your website chat. WhatsApp isn't among the apps named, and Cowork is something you open on your computer when there's admin to do. When a customer messages at 11pm to ask if you're open Sunday, nothing here replies.

What to do now

If you already pay for Claude, start small:

1. Open Claude Cowork and connect the app you use most for admin, such as your accounting software.
2. Pick one job you do by hand every month, like month-end bookkeeping.
3. Run the workflow and check Claude's result against your own before you approve it.

Keep the approval step on until the results have been right a few times in a row.

If you don't use Claude yet, this alone isn't a reason to sign up. First check that your accounting app is supported. Indonesian apps such as Jurnal and Accurate aren't among the ones Anthropic names.

The catch

Anthropic doesn't say which countries this works in, and its free workshops are only in US cities. Try it on your own numbers before you trust it with anything that goes to your accountant.

It's also an admin helper, not a customer service assistant. Replying to customers and taking bookings around the clock is a different kind of system.
